Laplace transforms are not for everyone. They transform a complex mathematical expression into a manageable alternative form that can be integrated or differentiated. You need a lot of prerequisite mathematics to understand Laplace transforms -- algebra, analytic geometry, calculus and differential equations and an understanding of what you learned means in reality. Given that, it is very concise. Laplace transforms are a powerful means to a mathematical end. The author handled the topic well.

This is one of those self published little gems, but unlike so many others, has a LOT of value if you can organize it yourself. First, there is no index, so the 150 or so worked problems flow generally from the chapters, but for specifics you'll have to create your own index if you want to use it as a reference work. Second, the Chapter titles at the beginning are very general, and don't agree with the Intro (which says, for example, that 4 is about electrical current flow (meaning "topic" 4) in circuits, whereas CHAPTER 4 is actually about strings, dynamic systems, etc.The formulas and solutions are high quality, with few errors, and have plenty of diagrams. Despite the promotional reviews there are NOT really a lot of verbal descriptions, because the book moves at a very rapid place from example to example in order to pack at least one or two examples of each type of problem in 300 pages. The author does use the solution notation convention so later problems do refer back to previous exercises.In summary, these are the class notes of a very bright mathematician, and show the sub steps for each technique quite clearly, as long as you know the symbols and understand the operations, which are not explained in detail. Not a lot of space is spent on inverses, which are really the toughest part of transform operators, but the problems selected solve quite clearly without the need for highly complex inversion manipulations. Some of the applications covered include solutions of PDE's, electrical applications, structural and dynamic applications, and of course equations of motion, waves, vibrating strings, etc.For the price, a lot of good worked examples if you can get around the lack of indexing. Although there are also problems and solutions that are somewhat didactic, the book doesn't really follow a "course" format as much as topics and examples, more for the engineer who has forgotten a technique and wants to look up an example solution. From that point of view, very well done.If there is one "best practice" in this book that I wish other, more polished texts from Wiley and Springer would follow, it is the fact that the author, while assuming you know transforms, does NOT assume you know all the intermediate steps in each problem - solution, so there are far fewer "jumps" to figure out-- the jumps are given!! For learning, maybe you need the discipline of finding intermediate steps yourself, but for real life applications and problems, you'll thank the author for including them.

Roald Dahl's children's novel, "The Witches," was adapted into a 1990 film with Mai Zetterling, Anjelica Huston, Jane Horrock, Rowan Atkinson and Brenda Blethyn in the cast. The story was adapted into a play in the 2000s with Ruby Wax as the evil wicked grand high witch. The story is broken into scenes faithful to the novel instead. The film adaptation had changed the ending of the story but not in the play version.The play version could be ideal for children's theatre or community theatre. Roald Dahl was a dark writer for children's literature. The author's daughter, Felicity Dahl, writes a foreword. There is an introduction by the adapter, David Wood. Scenes included "Real Witches;" "The Tree House Witch;" "The Grand High Witch;" "The Witches Annual Meeting;" "The Boy-Mouse;" "The Boy-Mouse Defeats the Witches:" and "So Long As Somebody Loves You." There are black and white illustrations for the stage design with each scene.

good play, but a bit scary for young kids. It is a Roald Dahl story, what more can I say?

A little edgy. Really enjoyed the read. Theatre buffs will get a kick out it but maybe not necessarily the usual Dahl fan. But that's what I personally enjoyed- the writing showed Dahl's versalility. Nice!

Our grandkids and their parents were very happy reading these plays. They're truly actors and using voices was a lot of fun.

You will love this story line and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book.

This second installment in the Love and Promises series can be read as a standalone but I also recommend the previous book, The Amish Teacher’s Gift, as well.Dr. Kyle Miller is surprised by an out of the blue phone call from a doctor who lives in his hometown of Lancaster, PA. He is also shocked by Dr. Hess’s proposal for Kyle to move back to Lancaster and take over his practice so he can retire. Since Kyle has worked very hard to forget about his past, he has no intention of accepting Dr. Hess’s generous offer. However, as he is trying to work up the courage to turn the doctor down, Kyle instead finds himself agreeing to spend a few days working with Dr. Hess in his practice. Will Kyle change his mind once he goes back to the place that still haunts him? Or will the trip convince him he is right to say no to Dr. Hess?Leah Stoltzfus is in training to become a midwife despite the fact that she won’t be able to get her certification. I also found myself ignoring everything that needed to be accomplished after work just so I could dive back into Kyle and Leah's story. You cannot help but believe in love and the power of love when you read this story. I became a little weepy as I read because it was so tender.I am also more interested in the holistic healing properties of organic herbal teas for chronic illness. I have found a new interest. Leah's story was very convincing in how well they can work.This is the second book in the Love and Promises series but each book can be read as a stand-alone. It is a beautiful Christian romance with no obscene sexual overtones or scenes, no foul language and not overly religious (meaning scripture verses on every page). I would feel comfortable giving this to a teen girl or my ninety-year-old grandmother to read.I received a copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

I mean really, I have lots of books from a whole lot of authors in the business of licensing and this book is by far my top 3 I mean it's really giving you all the nuts and bolts to the process and demystification of inventing... It has some good coverage on this software. Too much coverage on Tasks, Calendar, Contact, and all other non essential email. Yet on email function, e.g. how to enlarge the characters on the screen. Emphasis on the writing a draft. But if the draft is unfinished, the need to SAVE or find the "recovered" copy of the draft, if you stopped and go to internet to check on something.It is still necessary to go to google.com and search for items which cannot be found in this book.

All of the instruction manuals in the Shelly Cashman series are outstanding. The chapters include step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow and pictures of the screen that can be used to compare the picture to what is on your screen. I taught Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at the college level, and the Shelly Cashman books on Word, Excel, and Powerpoint were the text books that I used.

Anyone can learn how to use OutLook with this book, not just students but also in the workforce. Great illistrations, easy to understand, easy to follow. I would recommend this book to anyone, from a beginner to anyone wanting to sharpen their skills.

Nonfiction that reads like fiction from the one and only Shirley Jackson. Remember reading this in elementary school, before I knew who Jackson was-- delighted to find it again. Very readable as an adult, great for kids of all ages who want to get a handle on this grim chapter in American life

I only knew of Salem 'witchcraft' in part. I wanted to find out more, because in my par, ish in Nigeria we had a primary school child who disrupted her family with witchcraft phantasies. It seems to have been a 21st century repetition of the deception wrought in Salem.(Fr.) Bob Dundon, S.J, St. Joseph's Parish, Benin City

This is a great book about Salem Village and the power of witchcraft in their time a must read for all history lovers out there

I bought this book for a history class and wrote a paper on it, but it was surprisingly entertaining. It's a good short read packed full of historical information.

This book is clear and easy to follow, appropriate for all ages. It is subtly laced throughout with Jackson's wit and cynical humor.

Perfect item to give as a gift to a young reader to encourage him to explore his interest in history, while reading about an actual occurance that may be only mentioned in passing in their history school curriculum.

This is one of Shirley Jackson's lesser known books. Written for her son, I found it an easy read and full of information that surprised me. And I mean, written by Shirley Jackson the author of The Haunting and The Lottery.

Nolo does put out some excellent work in the self-help field. Even though it decently covers the concepts its structure has pif-falls for the unweary. Most people want to assess whether it is realistic for them to consider doing it themselves. The instructions for filing papers are up front (page 62) yet the warning to get an attorney for a defined benefit (page 296) and a QDRO (technical document) is barely defined at page 408. Fewer and fewer have these but if you do it affects how you handle the dissolution from the start. Another major miss is the lack of discussion of the importance of temporary orders. The myth, temporary orders are temporary. The reality, it establishes a custody/visitation arrangement that the judge will look at as a working plan when it comes to the final decree. If a spouse makes sacrifices to make a plan work thinking it is only temporary that spouse may be stuck with it in the end. There is no warning. I appreciate the advice of taking the high road and I believe in that, too. The high road does not mean making one vulnerable.

I use it as a reference when dealing with my divorce and an aid for the custody issues. Just to get a basic understanding of what I'm getting into. I've read portions of the dummies divorce book and found this book to be slightly more informative. It's an easy read in my opinion and seems to give some realistic basic advise.

Soup to nuts of divorce. The author walks the reader through the steps without speaking down to you or over your head in 'legalese'. Multiple situations and their solutions are explored, explained and pros and cons given. I would absolutely recommend, and have already, this book to anyone considering a separation and/or a divorce. Job well done!

Sad to say I needed this but I did. It gives a clear national overview of what to expect. Since the law varies from state to state, there's only so much it could do to help

Never going through a divorce before, this became a great tool! Even though I did hire a lawyer, it was good going in knowing what to expect.
