I enjoyed the first two books enough to purchase the third. I love Amanda M. Lee's wit and sarcasm. And while I did enjoy this one, it was not enough to purchase the fourth. I was greatly disappointed to find some noticeable discrepancies between the first two books and this one. First, the second book ended with saying William and his son had crossed over. The third book started off, weeks later after the second book ended...yes I went back to cross reference and make sure the author for some reason hadn't over lapped the time frames...but from the wording, it was weeks later and again we are just learning off the crossing over? Ok so that's one, I was annoyed, but let it slide. It didn't have a big impact on either story, just annoying. Then comes the blizzard and Landon has to sleep on the couch and all 3 girls share a room. Wait...the first book said there were 20 guest rooms plus the four rooms in the private quarters. Even if the couple had two rooms, Brian had one, Trevor had one, and the snow boarders each had their own, that leaves 14 rooms. Wait you say, maybe there were other guests there that they just didn't mention because they weren't important to the story. Maybe...but again, I read back and to me it was very clear that those mentioned were the only guests, otherwise the significance of the old couple staying on through the blizzard and tipping bay off would not have been an issue. And the lack of extra rooms added several pages worth of content to the book due to sneaking around and the continual reference of shot guns. Maybe the other rooms were being renovated?? Dunno. I'm an avid reader, and admittedly picky, but so are my two sense, for what it's worth.

First I have to say, that this series keeps getting better! Aunt Tillie keeps getting more freaking funny and the banter between them all, even more hilarious. I seriously want to hang out with this family! Now, while Bay and Thistle found their guys, poor Clove keeps finding the duds. Poor girl. I'm holding out hope that she finds a guy soon. Each "adventure" these chicks go on, is more interesting with every book and now..... Oh boy! I can only imagine the stuff that's going to happen with their dads in the picture! Since I can't help but be in love with these books, now that this review is finished I'm on to the next book! And again I wish I could give more than 5*'s.

So this is the third installment and most likely my last. I really wanted to love this series, but the writing and character interactions are repetitive and predictable. The author should never again use the phrases "blew out a sigh" and "I couldn't help but notice." These phrases are repeated multiple times in all three books -- sometimes on the same page! The characters have the same pointless interactions and arguments and show almost no development. The books are supposed to be about witches but there are very few magical elements included in the stories. Many of the characters are just downright unlikable and bring very little to the plot.

Winter has settled in Hemlock Cove and only dire hard snow-boarders, skiers and cold weather enthusiasts are the only tourists in the area., besides the locals. A retired couple who are looking for antiques and a couple of snow-boarders are the Outlooks only tourists. Police Chief Terry calls Bay to inform her a sixty foot cabin cruiser was abandoned in the middle of the lake and is being towed in to the docks. Lots of blood is discovered on the deck and FBI Agent Landon (Bay's boyfriend?) is also present. Lots of speculation, assumptions, false leads and a blizzard make for a great story. A fun and fast read.

I like this series well enough to keep reading. I'm on the fourth book and so far the first has been my favorite. I love the characters in this book, especially Aunt Tillie. The author has done a wonderful job creating her to the point I feel she's more developed than anyone else, including the main character. In this book I really missed Clove, she wasn't mentioned as much and I felt some of her actions were out of character for her. I love the family dynamic and even though the cousins do act very immature for being in their twenties, I mostly find it amusing and cute. In this third book, I began to notice a lot of errors. I'm no grammar Nazi but these books do a great job of making you feel like you're experiencing the story in real life and when you stumble upon a missing word or a quote that is incorrectly punctuated it trips you up and reminds you that you're reading, bolting you out of the fantasy you've escaped to for a brief moment. There is really only one thing that gets on my nerves though, and that's that the characters and town are reintroduced every single book. I basically have to skim the first chapter just to make sure I don't miss anything important but it's boring. I understand some may read these out of succession but since many jokes are tied to previous books, they really shouldn't be and therefore shouldn't need to be prefaced the same way in every new plot. I also found several inconsistencies about the characters...I can't think of an example off the top of my head but basically a character will say one thing and later in the book the opposite will be said. It makes the characters seem made up, which obviously they are, but I personally feel the most important part of writing a story is creating characters that feel as real as someone you know personally. Anyway, I know I've made a lot of complaints but don't let it take away from the fact that these are easy and fun reads. I will undoubtedly read the entire series, even if it means sitting through the boring reintroductions. And even with the character inconsistencies, I've still fallen in love with the Winchester ladies enough to want to keep reading about them so the character development gets a 99/100. Overall these books are pretty wonderful and I enjoy them a lot!
