The author David Frangioni is a passionate collector of all things Clint Eastwood. He has amassed an amazing collection of posters and memorabilia, dating way back to the 1964's A Fistful of Dollars to the 2008's Gran Torino. They are all in this book, properly labeled and arranged chronologically. There are not only English posters, but also in Japanese, Spanish and other languages. Thomas Schatz writes the biography.This is an oversized art book and the posters are printed large -- closeups feature almost life-size heads. Movies are made in a time where posters are still painted traditionally. There are many of those in this book. If you're a Clint Eastwood fan, you'll probably be transported back in time.This is a great book for all fans of Clint Eastwood.(More pictures are available on my blog. Come on, it is Clint Eastwood. What is not to like? The author did an amazing job compiling just about everything there is to know about this American Icon. Bought two. Going to be a very sad day when this man passes on. Luckily I had men like this to look up to as a kid. Cannot say that about kids these days. No real role models.

If you love movie poster art and Clint Eastwood you won’t be disappointed. Wish it had more from his spaghetti westerns, but well done never the less. Great coffee table book for our cabin.

Some truely rare (and expensive) items, some of which only a couple are known to exist. Remove the dust jacket for a nice surprise. Definitely a must for any Eastwood fan.

This book was recommended to me simultaneous to me hearing Rankin speak at a conference this year. The experience of hearing him speak increased my desire to want to read the book. It is easily the best which-book-do-I-read-now decision I've made in years. I was utterly captivated by the book from its opening pages.Union with Christ is something which I would claim to have known in bits and pieces, and therefore have knowingly experienced its benefits in only bits and pieces. This book brought those scattered bits and pieces into a coherent, well-articulated and illustrated whole. Rankin's flow in defining Union with Christ, then tracing it Biblically, historically and finally experientially brings a compelling case for presenting the importance, or I might even say, centrality of Union with Christ to the Christian life.As someone who works closely with college-aged students in ministry, I have already been recommending this book heartily and even purchasing additional copies of it to hand to students - it is THAT good. It is readable and accessible across a wide range of people and audiences. I cannot recommend it more highly.

This book is a fantastic read. Rankin has blended substantial scholarship and everyday-spiritual-direction in a way that few books in recent years have. I believe he accomplished his desire stated early on to recover the hugely overlooked doctrine of union with Christ while at the same time engaging timely cultural issues facing everyone in the west along with giving solid and simple ways to apply this doctrine to our hearts, lives, and mindsets.While I could recommend it for numerous reasons, I particularly think his treatment of grace and holiness was the best, clearest, and most succinct I've read to date (and as a pastor, I've read a lot on that topic!), which will greatly impact how I communicate and minister the gospel to others and even my own heart. Rankin deals throughout with a great number of false choices we often face showing that union helps us see how seeming opposite things are actually brought together in union with Christ.The book was challenging, comforting, and simply a delight to read. This book will be a gift to whoever will take up and read it.

I enjoyed savoring this wonderful book over time. Even though the subject matter may seem daunting to some, this book is highly accessible. The author deftly reins in his considerable intellect and aptitude as a theologian to relate to everyday believers in a very winsome way. Reading this book is like sitting with a close friend over tea, comparing notes on the incredible divine relationship anyone can enjoy. This book describes what this mystical union is and encourages us to enter into it, but if I could ask one more thing (perhaps from a sequel), it would be to get a stronger practical sense of what this supernatural interchange looks like on a day-to-day level. Clearly, this author has ventured into these spiritual waters and I'd love to hear more personal stories of what that's been like for him. Recommended reading.

Author Rankin Wilbourne adds his voice to the growing chorus of neo-Romantics proclaiming that imagination is the key to living an enchanted Christian life. "Imagination is necessary to know and enjoy God," he says, and is required for union with Christ, which is described as "an enchanted reality." (Locations 118, 131, 172.) Imagination is a must because God and Christ and the Holy Spirit are all invisible and, according to the author, the only way a person can experience invisible things is to imagine them. The imagination empowers one to "image something not present to the eyes." (124)But if we can only experience God by imagining Him, we are imminently likely to end up worshiping an imaginary god. That is why Romanticism failed two centuries ago. After the Enlightenment reduced the universe to meaningless matter in motion, Romanticism endeavored to re-enchant the world. While its poets promised a spiritual reality beyond what the eyes can see, all they delivered were metaphors about spiritual things derived from their perceptions of the natural world. The poet might speak of beholding heaven in a dew drop but all he really saw was the dew drop; heaven was only imagined. People who wanted a real heaven eventually discovered the poets only offered an imaginary one, and so Romanticism withered away.The author here is attempting to revive interest in an imagined spirit realm, but he offers nothing more than the original Romantics, namely, metaphors and similes. He insists this "language of poetry" is the "only way to capture the mystery of union with Christ." (185, 1394)The really sad thing is that the author heavily relies on the writings of those who actually experienced real union with Jesus Christ, including John Owen and Jonathan Edwards, but he then reduces these real experiences to imaginary ones because that is all he knows himself and all he thinks a person is capable of knowing.Jonathan Edwards, in describing the "divine and supernatural light" by which the Holy Spirit directly reveals to a believer the wondrous spiritual realities described in Scripture, expressly denied this was a work of the imagination: "[One] may be affected with a lively and eloquent description of many pleasant things that attend the state of the blessed in heaven, as well as his imagination be entertained by a romantic description of the pleasantness of fairy land, or the like. … We read in Scripture of many that were greatly affected with things of a religious nature, who yet are there represented as wholly graceless, and many of them very ill men. A person therefore may have affecting views of the things of religion, and yet be very destitute of spiritual light. Flesh and blood may be the author of this: one man may give another an affecting view of divine things with but common assistance: but God alone can give a spiritual discovery of them."John Owen noted that only those who have had this real encounter with the Holy Spirit are able to understand it: "And whereas this spiritual experience, which believers obtain through the Holy Ghost, is such as cannot rationally be contended about, seeing those who have received it cannot fully express it, and those who have not cannot understand it, nor the efficacy which it hath to secure and establish the mind, it is left to be determined on by them alone who have their 'senses exercised to discern good and evil.' And this belongs unto the internal subjective testimony of the Holy Ghost." Pneumatologia at 510.Edwards and Owen were in accord that this illuminating work of the Holy Spirit is the only means by which a Christian can secure the benefits of union with Christ and its attendant spiritual fruit. Said Edwards: "This light, and this only, has its fruit in universal holiness of life. No merely notional or speculative understanding of the doctrines of religion will ever bring to this. But this light, as it reaches the bottom of the heart and changes the nature, so it will effectually dispose to a universal obedience." Owen likewise wrote that this direct illumination by the Holy Spirit has in it "a transforming power to change the whole soul into an obedient frame towards God" and "is the only means whereby we actually derive from Christ the benefits of our union with him." Pneumatologia at 242, 403.No amount of imagining will ever produce the light and life and fruit that Edwards and Owen described. His team of men were against all odds in surviving the almost impossible horrifying events that were thrown upon them with no food, no first-aid, and no supplies to help them in their amazing journey. As those who managed to survive had to battle with fear in near-misses, and the only thing that kept them alive was their incredible spirit. After whipping through a couple great polar exploration books, I got a copy of Alone on the Ice. (Btw, I highly recommend both of these: Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage, which is the well known account of Shackleton's ill-fated, but miraculous survival in Antarctic and Arctic Adventure: My Life in the Frozen North, which though hugely popular in its day, is something of a lost classic that is a great read filled with lots of well told dramatic adventure while [unlike Endurance] giving insight into native Eskimo culture, which is fascinating.)In "Alone on the Ice," David Roberts tells the true story of what Sir Edmund Hillary called "the greatest survival story in the history of exploration." Hillary was referring to the 1912 expedition of Australian explorer Douglas Mawson and his fellow members of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Mawson and cohorts set out to explore Antarctica with the intention of gathering specimens and to make scientific observations of the continent. What has left Mawson's considerable accomplishments and amazing survival story obscured by the layers of newsprint and time is--unlike Roald Amundsen and Robert Scott--he wasn't a pole bagger. Mawson, never grabbed headlines by "summiting" the south pole. Mawson and the AAE's expedition went virtually unnoticed by the public. Now, at the 100th year anniversary of the expedition, Roberts tells the story of Mawson, alone after his companions had died during the expedition, an expedition that saw them trek over 600 miles round trip while being face with 100 miles per hour winds, and left with little of their original provisions. Left as a lone explorer, Mawson was forced to make a ninety-five mile trek across the Antarctic Ice while battling extreme hunger, madness, and the deadly terrain of the continent.During his trek Mawson often had to crawl as a result of losing the flesh from the soles of his feet. And at one point, he fell into a deadly crevice that would have likely killed almost anyone else. However, Mawson, inspired by a poem by Robert. W. Service, was able to extricate himself out of the crevice with what could only be considered superhuman strength, determination, and extraordinary will. Roberts tells Mawson's story well and has seemingly done his research thorough, including some great, rarely-seen photos (one of an iced-over face is bizarre, as is the shot of an explorer's contortions to stay upright in a 100-mile an hour wind). The photos are by Frank Hurley, who is famous from his Endurance photos. In sum, this is a very engaging read. Robert's detailed description of Mawson's determination, perseverance, and courage gives Mawson the heroic recognition while provided classic adventure story entertainment.

This factual recounting of a scientific expedition to Antarctica is at times unbelievable, at times inspiring, at times tragic. The author never sensationalizes the facts or the telling of them, which makes the story even more incredible and a fantastic page-turner.

An interesting book about an amazing Antartic survival story, in which Douglas Mawson sledged alone to reach his base. I learned a great deal about Antarctica and the costs of exploration from it.

This book is essentially a biography of Douglas Mawson, the Australian Antarctic explorer who in 1912 survived a 30-day, almost 300-mile trek alone back to camp after his two teammates died. One of his teammates fell down a crevasse along with the sledge that carried most of the team's important equipment and most of its food, and the other died thereafter due to exposure, so Mawson had to survive on half or fewer rations. Mawson was a geology professor at the University of Adelaide and wanted to explore as much of the continent as possible rather than reach the South Pole (he was with Shackleton in 1908 when they came within 95 miles of the pole). He formed the Australasian Expedition with 24 members who landed and wintered over in what turned out to be the windiest spot on earth; some of the members, including Mawson, spent two winters there. The book is well-organized and Roberts is a great storyteller who argues that from a scientific standpoint the expedition achieved and explored more than those of the more famous Antarctic explorers Amundsen, Scott and Shackleton. Roberts finds little fault with Mawson and reviewed many letters, diaries and other primary sources. Roberts may have gone a little overboard defending Mawson against attacks made in 2001 by the son of one of the other expedition members. At the end of the book Roberts makes a perfunctory comment that Mawson had his faults, but the book rarely delved into them. Some people doubt Mawson's story that, after his teammates died, he fell in a crevasse to a depth of 14 feet hanging only by a rope, and in his weakened and starved condition climbed hand-over-hand most of the way, fell back down, then climbed hand-over-hand a second time to escape the crevasse. The book discusses a modern attempt (which failed) to replicate this feat and others have expressed doubt about its authenticity, but makes no comment on whether Mawson fabricated or embellished the story. One hundred years later I don't think anyone can say if the story is definitely true or not, but Roberts should at least have acknowledged that others doubt Mawson was telling the truth about it. I loved this book, as did my three year old. As I am currently pregnant with my second child, we were looking for familiar characters that could help us introduce the concept of a newborn to my daughter. We were also hoping the whole, "baby being born" process would be covered. Both of these things were.Daniel's parents explain they are having a baby, and Daniel helps get the baby's room ready. Then Daniel's parents go to Dr. Anna's so she can help the baby be born while Daniel stays with Grandpere Tiger. All very realistic, but in a kid friendly format. Mr. McFeely comes to tell Daniel and Grandpere Tiger that the baby is here, and then Daniel and Grandpere go to visit Mom and Dad and Dr. Anna's. Daniel takes the baby a present and greatly enjoys meeting his new sister - putting something that might be intimidating to small children in a positive light. It becomes very obvious that the new baby cries a lot and is very needy, something even my three year old now tell me all about. They try feeding, rocking, changing her diaper, and over time even Mom Tiger admits she can't always tell what's wrong. Daniel gets to help soothe the baby, making him very proud of himself.I thought this was a realistic representation of how a new baby changes things in the family, and the process. My daughter has now been through it several times with Daniel, and I hope this makes it less scary for her. There are also two episodes of the show (season 5, episodes 1 and 2 - it's on Prime!) that cover the same material as the book. We have watched these a few times together and talked about them. The next two episodes (season 5, episodes 3 and 4) cover how life is different after baby Margaret is born. We haven't tackled these yet, but will soon.I highly recommend the book, I have found it very helpful in explaining things to my daughter. If you have Prime, I also highly recommend watching the episodes that tie in with the book, as an additional way to reinforce the book material.

I was having a girl, and trying to help my son prepare emotionally and mentally. So this fit the bill. The whole Daniel Tiger thing is a little weird though - he's a preschooler and sometimes has the emotional maturity of a fifth grader... my MIL was laughing at the absurdity of some of the things in the book... "O the Owl has only seen a baby in a book... Prince Wednesday thinks she is royally little"... it's a basic page-by-page rendition of the episode where Baby Margaret is born and comes home.

The whole book was more thin than I expected it to be. Keep in mind this book has a soft cover like a magazine. This is a cute story that of course follows the Daniel the tiger tv show. When it's time for baby grandparents astay with Daniel and parents go to hospital to have baby. It was good to help my daughter prepare for our sons arrival and just so happens her grandparents stayed with her during our little guys arrival so it matched up nicely, except we were moving right after so we didn't paint and prepare baby's room like they did in the book

We read the book before watching the t.v. episode and she was excited about making the connection between the book and episode.

Absolutely adorable book. I had no idea what this book was when I bout it. I just need something flaming. The illustrations are beautiful. The quality of the book is made to last. It will be a treasure in our daughters book collection. We used it as a guest book for our daughters first birthday. It was perfect.

I bought this book purely for the illustrations. They're so sweet. And the quiet story is fun because I can make it up as I go or my daughter can. I'm a little worried that the flip up portions will tear over time, so I think this is a tricky purchase for little ones that don't turn pages easily. And it seems to be a bit young for my 8 year old. So the perfect age is around 5-6 for this book... at least in my house.

Such a fun book. My granddaughter (age three) and I made up our own story as we went from page to page. We got a lot of giggles out of the comments she can up with. She had the stuffed animal "Flora the Flamingo" at home on her bed when I arrived. The book encourages imagination. And with a three-year-old, the imagination and storytelling can be quite hysterical. It certainly brought LOUD giggles to her goodnight book! I will continue to track this author and her books. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. It is certainly an entertaining book and TRULY encourages imagination! She LOVED it!

This is such beautiful book, but I do wish the current production run didn’t come with an award seal stuck to the cover. I bought it as a gift for a friend to display in a nursery and the seal ruins the cover art.

Pretty pictures but the entire book is different dance poses and no words. Very repetitive and boring. My 17 month old loves books but loses interest very quickly. I use it as a decoration on a shelf in her room rather than as something that we read together. I would not buy again or ever give as a gift.

The Flora book is always a hit as a gift. I'm a children's librarian and recommend this book frequently. The flaps make it interesting for children and the textless story makes it a great read alone for any age. Children love to do the dance moves with Flora. It's a really charming little book and always goes over well with children and parents. It's also a great "pink" book that really isn't all that gendered. It's just a kid dancing with a flamingo - no princesses or frou frou stuff.

Very cleverly done. There are no words in this book, you make up your own story. However, the story changes every time you "read" it. I gave it 4 stars because the book doesn't last long. The fold out pages are flimsy and tend to rip out.

This is book is fantasmically awesome ... if such a thing were a word. Well-written and goes into so much detail on replacing cooking techniques. I think that helps more than just throwing some recipes at people. The content of this book is so comprehensive and I'm only half-way through the book. I love that the author also goes into considerations for eating out and grocery shopping. She guides in a way that really empowers you to go out and adapt what you've learned and thrive in your neck of the woods with what's available to you...as opposed to just being bogged down by specific recipes. I have also had to go gluten-free and I've found this book so helpful. I'm glad she took the time to mention things that also pertain to soy-free, gluten-free and nut-free diets. I can't sum up my love for this book. Excellent Resource!!!

After living dairy free for a year I typically buy vegan cookbooks for new recipe ideas. Though I was excited about a book specifically about dairy-free meals it turned out to be very different than I expected. As someone who does not feel compelled to hang on for dear life to dairy alternatives (I ditched the vegan "cheeses" months ago) this book wasn't very helpful. I wouldn't consider a recipe for pizza with listed ingredient "add cheese alternative" as a recipe that is useful to me.Are you new to dairy free living? Are you desperate for odd versions of the foods you've been forced to leave behind? Then this might be the book for you. But if you, like me, have been dairy free a while and are looking for new recipes that are healthy, easy, and don't involve dairy I wouldn't recommend this book. Also just for reference, about the first third of the book is the "guide" and research portion presented by the author, with a sizeable chunk of references in the back. There are no pictures in this book except the one on the cover, so it feels a little cluttered and word-heavy. Again, I am not saying this book isn't going to be helpful for some people, but it was not helpful for my situation.

When my husband decided to eliminate gluten from his diet several years ago, I had no idea where to start. He lived, for a long time, with no real bread-type foods because I just didn't know how best to make them. Yes, I looked up ideas on the internet, but we had many recipe failures that way. We LOVE this Go Dairy Free cookbook! It is as if Alisa has written down every possible dietary need that families might have for most of the recipes included in this book. My kids love trying out the recipes and the many variations included. And my husband has had great success creating the gluten free ideas in it as well. It is like Alisa is having a conversation with me, as I navigate new and exciting recipes. Thanks so much for making gluten free so much easier!

Since buying this book, I haven’t gone a day without opening it. For one thing, it is chock-full of amazing allergy-friendly recipes for every meal, snack, or craving (including ones for kids).But what I love most about Go Dairy Free is the vast amount of research and knowledge that was put into it to make it my go-to resource in the kitchen. It’s broken into easy-to-navigate sections, including a comprehensive breakdown of dairy allergies and lactose intolerance. Other sections I find helpful have been Eating Away From Home and a guide to Dairy Substitutes.Definitely a must-have for dairy-free and health-conscious eaters!

This book has been invaluable to me since I went dairy free almost two years ago so I thought it was about time to write a review! It's worth buying for the newly dairy free just to have the information on nutrition and substitutions within easy reach. I love that soy is not used as the end-all for recipes and substitutions. Also many of the recipes are versatile because they're vegetable-, not meat-based, so you can make them vegetarian or simply add meat as suggested. The only thing that prevents this book earning five stars is that the recipes are a bit hit-or-miss. But the recipes that are good, are really good. Chocolate Chip Cookies with Oil (try them with light olive oil and almond yogurt), No Bake Granola Bars, Multi-Purpose Muffins, Veggie Lasagna, Mushroom and Sage Stuffed Bell Peppers, and Powdered "Cheese" Mix are all part of my regular rotation. And the Peanut Butter Truffles, but I try not to make those too often, they're too good ;) Unfortunately the Chocolate Cake was heavy and greasy, and the Almond Buttery Stir Fry and Lentil Curry were just not good. If you're already experienced with dairy-free cooking and are looking for innovative, chef-developed recipes this may not be your book. But if you're feeling lost and put-out that you can't eat a lot of things, this book will make you much happier.

I bought this book because we recently had to make a switch to dairy-free, which was quite overwhelming at first. This book helped to ease my mind by explaining some scientific data behind dairy intolerance and the many types. I found the setup of the book to be easy to go through and simple to understand. I also liked that there are a WIDE variety of recipes, which do not use complicated appliances. My one tiny negative is the ease of using a recipe while cooking, I think I will either type or make copies of the recipes I choose to use. But I still believe this book is worth a 5 star rating and if you are looking for dairy-free recipes you should buy this!

Good size, lots of space to write things. Very colorful! Each main character gets their own month, and lots of cute pictures of everybody. Some of them are obviously clip art, but the backgrounds are all very nice. Some of the character's outfits are not up-to-date with current happenings in the show, but I imagine they start making calendars ahead of time to get them ready for sale, so this is understandable. Would be great for a fan of the show!

I'm so happy I found this!!!! And that it's half off!! It's big, and beautiful! My pens don't seem to bleed through like they do on some thinner calendars. It has art at the bottom of the calendar pages too, as well as the main pictures. I'd rather have more of the crystal gems than the one of Gregg and cute/funny/sweet ones way more than ones of them in attack mode, but I still love it!

I ordered this to help me get ready for the new year. I used to always forget about things like this and get a calendar a few weeks into the new year. I love the show and this is a great way to keep track of the year. Art changes from location pieces to characters, and is enjoyable. Irony at its highest is that the birthstone for the month of January is Garnet, but the first image of the year is Steven. ;)

Each month features a beautiful, colorful scene featuring many of this amazing shows unique characters. I highly recommend it to any Steven Universe fan.

My kids love the show, so I could not resist getting the calendar. It’s large enough for my kids to pencil in soccer games, upcoming tests, picture day, etc. Fun way for kids to keep track of events during busy school year.

This book was used for my senior level nursing informatics course. It served the purpose and covered all of the topics required to pass the exams. It helped that my professor used the slides the authors provided. There were a few things I did not like about the text that made it a difficult read. For starters, the authors use WAY too many abbreviations. I get that all the agencies and programs they are describing in healthcare have abbreviations that stand for something more (for example HIPPA, HITECH act, ACA, etc.), but this book goes overboard. I swear there were some paragraphs that had so many I forgot what I was reading about! I had to go back numerous times to remember what each one stood for, and honestly, they could have gotten the point across without so much unnecessary detail. Second, the unnecessary detail itself was a problem. I don't need the complex history of how each law or regulation evolved since 1900- while a little bit of history can add context, this just seemed to be a list of useless facts that made the reading longer and more complex than needed. Finally, as I always state about nursing texts, I absolutely HATE when authors of a textbook use APA to cite references. APA is bulky and makes reading through the material more difficult. It was hard to discern what was material I may be tested on and what was just references being listed (which are necessary for proper citation, but let's be honest most students don't care about.) I wish the authors of textbooks would realize this and save students the headache!

this was a required book for my schooling. I used it in class and that was it. It is a good resource though and read through much of it. It is very good because of the way healthcare and informatics are now working together. It helps grasp those concepts better.

Helped me pass my certification!

I bought this book because it was required for one of my nursing classes. The book was in very good condition when it arrived. The content of the book is much to be desired. It was very dry and did not keep my attention. The topic of the book is, however, a difficult one to make sound 'fun' and unfortunately, this book did not capture it either.

A lot of the information in this book is outdated, it talks about technology or protocols that aren't used in most hospitals anymore.

Provides a great overview of Nursing Informatics

Colors are true to photo. The weight of the paper holds up well to even permanent marker without bleeding through the backside. It's a fun piece of "art" that breaks upbeat can be best described as a very vanilla office.
