This book is visually stunning. However, as an avid homebaker, I encountered errors in some of their instructions. Some cakes, such as the "White Chocolate Strawberry Mousse Cake," had an assembly problem. I believe they never made the cake themselves or they would have realized that all the filling doesn't fit into the springform pan the way they have indicated. I instead used a 9 inch ring on a baking sheet lined with a 9-inch cardboard round, so I would have enough room for the cake layers and fillings. But the cake itself, when done was incredibly delicious and stunning to look at. I found the "Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pie," contrary to another reviewer to have been an awful recipe in instructions, assembly and taste. Yuk! The "Milk Chocolate and Golden Almond Cakes," were awesome. The cover cake, "Black Satin Chocolate Raspberry Cake," is prettier to look and was uninspring in taste. I was disappointed. Most of the recipes are timeconsuming and I agree with another reviewer that they lack insight in the instructions a homebaker would need. I haven't tried any of the candy recipes and will soon be trying out the "White Chocolate Opera Cake." I will say this book allows the homebaker to dream and succeed in many recipes to create stunning preparations. I find it is unique that it gives the homebaker a chance to try some challenging recipes that are on par with those one would find in pastry shops and five-star restaurants. Most baking books I find are uninspiring, insipid and about as challenging as opening a cake mix box. I think this book is a great one to add to your collection, because there are enough keeper recipes to make it worth your while.

I have recently received this book and I find it an excellent book. It is not only beautiful (it has lots of spectacular photos) but also its recipes are wery good, and also its explanations of ingredients and techniques. It is true that it is elegant and you can find that many of the recipes are only for special ocasions (however you can adapt them!), but not too sophisticated (as it is Torres' book, which I find extremely sophisticated). I find this book beautiful and useful.

Whenever I find a new knotting book with more than a couple of new ties that I feel I will use, I am very happy. I am happy with this book. Even more than the cool two color ties that Mr. Mikkelson includes, I was impressed by the ties he did not include. Online sources often suggest the Cobra or Solomon tied over a loop, the Blaze Bar (J. D. Lenzen) or the Ladder Rack as Rapid Deployment ties. None of those are included, but the sound and fundamental Ripcord Sinnet by Lenzen is included. Since I am planning a hatband for my Henschel Aussie Style hat, I will be using a whole lot of cord. There are some really fine ideas here. I only wish Todd had covered a D-shackle option that I saw in an online mail order version that looked like Thick Zipper from Lenzen at TIAT. These are all "ball and loop", but anyone accustomed to buckles can work it out, or adapt from Todd's first book with the pull clip. Very impressive, and the pictures were clear. I also like that this author repeated each step more than a single time. Mr. Lenzen seems to be single stepping more and more, which I find harder to work with. Very good paracord sinnet book.

I am a firm believer that Todd is one of the finest knot inventors around. This book is nothing but sinnets. And for people like me that are sick of seeing the same old cobra stitch, this would be a great way to increase your inventory, as well as your tying expertise. This book is awesome.

Paracord sinnets seem to be everywhere these days. The best part of these are the quick deploy feature. Being able to take them apart to have the cordage is the benefit. Preppers really need to get a copy of this book.

Very clear instructions even for the beginner to understand. Convenient to be able to download to my kindle, instead of having to wait for a book to be delivered.

My husband loves this one the most because they all can be used in a real emergency. He says why have them if that's not the point.

Author gives several different designs of paracord sinnets. The pictures are clear and very detailed, allowing even a beginner to use these sinnets.

Thomas Jayne was trained as a graduate fellow in the prestigious Winterthur program, as well as other leading museums. This book is fantastic. It has great photos and all of the photo descriptions are on the same page as what is shown. You don't have to keep flipping back and forth between text and the pictures of the elegant rooms. I like the way the author has showcased the historic homes, especially Monticello. It was considered genius in its day, and is still so considered. My design sense leans toward traditional/eclectic, with a twist of contemporary art. So I am happy that he included many rooms that are traditionally designed and ones that include family photos and the owners' personal possessions. I truly hope the author has other books "in the works," and I would like to see more photos of his own design work.

The book is very nice and the rooms chosen are beautiful. The photography is beautiful. However this is one expert opinion. For example I find it hard to believe that not one room in the White House would be chosen by the author. That being said I wonder how many other rooms could be considered the "Finest". Perhaps a team of several designers, architects and decorators could have collaborated as coauthors to compile a fairer selection. Some rooms depicted would likely still make the grade but there would be others considered finer than those illustrated.

Quite disappointing. Considering how many beautiful homes there are in America this is quite a miserable choice.

"... just as in my parents' house, rooms that are small and not expensive can also be among the finest." The author's words are both democratic and provocative.The reader will become involved with this book firstly curious to see which rooms are chosen then wondering how and why they were chosen and ultimately understanding what makes a room fine, wonderful, etc. Do we agree with the author or disagree with his choices? 50 is just a number. The real take away will be your own enriched ideas for quality, proportions, style, design, livability. The book is the author's invitation to go on this intellectual journey. His creative process is contagious. Of course, it can be easier to look back historically and all agree on what has staying power and remains pleasing to most but, challenging to assign that same title to rooms made in our lifetime. The 50 rooms reveal the author's bold goal realized and invite us to ponder number 51, 52, etc, as well as our own rooms. "The Finest..." provides beautiful food for thought.Mindy Papp Durham

This book is filled with wonderful illustrations and very descriptive text. It spans many years and a variety of styles. It is fun to just look at, but also very helpful for design projects.

Wonderful book filled with excellent photographs and very good text. The book shows houses of all sorts, each with their own particular aesthetic merits!

Lavishly illustrated and beautifully written, this is for the home conoisseur who either has the spend to have a home like this, or is looking at top of the range to improve what they have on a more modest budget.

I was so happy when I found this book but I was quickly very disappointed. The layout is terrible, have to flip the text on different parts of it. Some of the text can't even be enlarged. Honestly I don't even know if I want to even try to read the whole book. I shouldn't have to format the text as I read. This could have been great but it fell short in the formatting.

If you are interested in the Ayurvedic lifestyle and in Ayurvedic health, this is one of the best reference books you will ever find. Each recipe is coded by body type: Kapha, Pitta, or Vata. I use this book all the time. And the recipes are VERY easy to follow. I an not at all a great cook, and even I can prepare these recipes fairly easily.

My only negative critique of this book is that the recipes do not begin with an ingredient list, and the reader must search out the ingredients within the recipe, which feels unorganized. Otherwise, it's amazing, and contains a huge wealth of valuable info.

This cookbook is just perfect for someone starting out with Ayurvedic cooking. The recipes are easy to follow, especially when seeking a recipe that matches my constitution. I find that the recipes are quite tasty and I've begun to enjoy cooking again.

I have tried some of the recipes in this book. And the ones I have tried are actually good. I would like to see some recipes for chutneys and paneer. Good info on the doshas and what foods are good for the different constitutions. I think its a good stater.

I have had the print version of this for years but decided to get it on my kindle. I've used many of the recipes and enjoy the good writing in this book. However. Please fix the images in the kindle version! You can't put landscape view images in this. When you rotate the book to see the landscape view, the image rotates on the kindle and remains landscape. The problem is many of the food lists are landscape view so you have to tilt your head to try to read these long lists. Just re-lay the parts out in the Ebook version rather than use a list that is an image, please. Also, the font on these list images is small and you can't zoom.

After reading and trying to understand The Ayurvedic approach to better health I found it difficult to apply the cooking part as it seemed very confusing. Finally I was told about this book and it was wonderful. Really easy to apply to everyday cooking! Love this book!

I am building a library for myself and am collecting books for the library that I will have some day. This is one such book. I haven’t read it yet but I think it will be fascinating and am looking forward to reading it.

This proves that propaganda works. The moral here is that you must never make a judgment without first determining for yourself if it's true or not.Read this little book by a respected researcher to see the truth. The truth will set you free...if we can just vote the opponents out of office.
